Bend and Crap

The wonderful Victoria, BC artist Marc Johns tweeted about his new Post-It Note drawing today, and Ribsy fully concurs with the ruling.

Fire-hydrant-470
The local dog park is currently a poo land mine, with turd bombs lying concealed amongst the muddy terrain, waiting to either (a) hitch a ride on an unfortunate shoe, or (b) detonate in Mirabel's eager chops.

Really, folks, how hard is it to bend, grab and toss?

Of course, there are many, many other ways in which a dog owner can be found irresponsible, but failure to pick up your dog's poop is downright inexcusable.

Ribsy thinks it's a no-brainer. I pinch. You pick.

Here's a test: if you're disgusted by the photo below, you're not ready to be a dog owner.

Jingle Whip Rock

This is what happens with too much wine and too much time on Christmas Eve.

Mirabling

P1020908-60Guess who's posing with her new pink scented candle, courtesy of Ribsy's Number One Fan?  RNOF may have to have a new name on this blog, as her affection for Mirabel is clearly evident. There's room for more than one Hamilton fawn whippet!

P1020952-1-30But wait! That's not all. Here is Mirabel modeling the sparkly necklace that RNOF also bestowed upon her.

(Ribsy got some Itty Bitty Scary Kitty cookies from Three Dog Bakery so he was amply satisfied. It's clear that the way to a male dog's heart - much like his human counterpart - is through his stomach.)

"Bling it on!" says Mirabel. She's all ears for the good things in life. P1020939-30

Sunny Saturday

DSC_0101-1 DSC_0089-1A beautiful day in the Hammer meant a lovely walk with a friend in the neighborhood. Perfect weather for stopping to smell all the spring flowers.

The pooches practice their poses outside their soon-to-be new digs.

Mirabel works her Magnum face.

Canada's Next Top Whippet

Dsc_0002Ribsy was reunited with one of his Westcoast fans today. She breezed into the Hammer for a walk along Locke Street, lunch at the Bar on Locke, a visit to the very first Tim Horton's, and a scenic drive around town.

Coddle_tn Thanks for the cuddles! I very much enjoyed posing with you, thought Ribsy, who recalled a moment from his puppyhood where he learned how to do exactly that. Pictured here at only four months old, he was a quick study!

I Got the Girl(s)

Cp3How adorable are these two? Presenting Ribsy's brand-new identical cousins from out West. Ribsy hopes to meet them in-person (in-dog?) one day. By then, he's sure they'll be a lot bigger. Congratulations on your cute little twin stars, Mike & Andrea!

If I was your mother

P10301232 Another tourtiere night, another terrific dinner. Ribsy instinctively licks his chops just thinking about the tender porky memories.

P1030128 P1030129 It was well worth tolerating the small person at dinner. Ribsy has to admit that for a tiny one, Saya is very well behaved. Her parents should be proud.

Camp-tastic

So the first camping trip in Ontario loomed. Would it be as good as Lotusland? In many ways, better. And many, not. But why compare? Camping is camping, and anytime you can find the time to sleep in and appreciate the great outdoors means good times, period. Even without sweet Vandosa.

P1020588P1020590_2The pack met up with the ALo's in Tiverton, Ontario where their campsite was awaiting. Nestled in the woods, it was all in all, not bad. They took off for an afternoon romp and lunch in Kincardine, where they happened upon two things ginormous: a non-curdy but pretty purdy poutine, and a huge Boy-and-Ribsy throne (Girls keep out!).

P1020595But back to the campsite, where E was put to the test as a mobile tent. She passed with flying colors, as evidenced by the smiles on Girl and Ribsy. The four seats fold flat down, and then a double-sized air mattress was laid on top. Pure camping bliss!

P1020600P1020604P1020606Then it was off to the beach to watch the amazing sunset over Lake Huron. Ribsy also managed to squeeze in time as a photo prop.

P1020609P1020619P1020639More sunset shots. Ribsy got a bit smutty after running in the sand with a Vizla and Lab.

The campfire that night was long and strong, thanks to a kind neighbour who donated an extra supply of slow-burning wood. Thanks! However, after a sumptuous night of sleep the group was shocked to find their food coolers missing! Turns out a rowdy crowd of young adults (more like children) had vandalized, stolen, and generally turned the campsite upside down. Is this how they do it out East? The pack would like to think otherwise. The police turned up and the group got their coolers back (although Boy had to shower with it, to wash the PUKE out). Gross.

P1020659Back to happier times. Without their peameal bacon (wah), they drove up to Saugeen Shores and ate a hearty country breakfast before descending on the local beach, where Ribsy had a dandy time dousing dudes and dudettes and generally creating chaos.

P1020684Then quickly as it came, it was time to drive home. Here's some beautiful acreage up for sale, complete with pond, that Boy and Girl wish they could buy.

P1020690P1020694P1020697The pack made another pit stop at Mapleton's Organic Dairy Farm, where they noshed on some fresh, lip-smackingly good maple sugar and French vanilla ice cream waffle cones. The young calves of the farm are segregated for a short time, and you can pet them while you snack. Like you with ice cream, they love to lick - whether it be cages or cats!

Overall Ribsy rates the trip two tongues, er, thumbs, er paws, up.

WhippetLash

Ever wonder what it's like to have a wet whippet zooming by you at full speed on the beach? Probably not. But here's the feeling, captured in a short video. Shot at Port Elgin on Lake Ontario - the third Great Lake this summer for Boy, Girl and Ribsy. And the first-ever camping trip in the province. Weather: Fantastic. Scenery: Lovely. Sunset in Kincardine: Amazing. the Honda Element as a camping vehicle: Awesome. More photos to come soon.

Hooray Horychuns

Stork_with_puppy_tail_wags Congratulations from the pack on your new arrival!

May he grow to be handsome, speedy and chesty like me, thought Ribsy.
