Today's Steps for Life 5k walk was truly inclusive. A dog treat station, water bowls, and colorful bandanas and ribbons made for a great day for the dogs. Ribsy and Mirabel even met another whippet on the walk. Hi Gordon, wherever you may be!
And knowing that they were walking (ok Ribsy and Mirabel really, really, really wanted to run the course) in support of families of workplace tragedy just made it all the more satisfying.
Ribsy and Mirabel rarely show off their tongues. That's because they're usually walking at a comfortable pace while Girl is running her butt off. Or maintaining a snooty, uppity look when passing other dogs on leash.
But today at the park, they let them all hang out as frisbee toss after toss, Ribsy and Mirabel went at it in a fierce battle for ultimate whippet supremacy. In the end, Girl declared a tie, and the dogs went home spent, panting and smiling all the while.

Then lightening up and letting loose on the slushy trails.
Only to have Ribsy blast onto the scene, leaving Mirabel in the snow dust and reminding everywhere here that this is Ribsy's blog, first and foremost. Possessive today, aren't we, Magoo?
"Me Too Mirabel" (As in "Why does Ribsy get his photos plastered all over this blog like he's the only whippet around? ME TOO!") has her turn at the spotlight today.
By the way, is it true what they say about second-born whippets? That there aren't as many photos, or as much due attention paid to them as compared to first-borns? Girl doesn't think that's true. She and Boy adopted Mirabel when she was already a year old, so that's why there isn't a plethora of her puppy photos hanging around - and not because they didn't bother to take any. Let the record show.
Also let the record show that Girl's been busy snapping photos of both of them, whenever she has a hand free of leashes, poop bags and car keys.
