One of the many folks that Girl will miss with the impending move to Hamilton is this artist. Girl is already the proud owner of one of his works, and looks forward to seeing more of wildly, er, mildly amusing drawings on his blog. These curious little creations will put a smile on your face.

Ball-tox

Anyone who has looked semi-closely at photos of Ribsy will know that he is 100% man. Man whippet. Intact. Ready to go. Ready and willing. Girl happened to check out dog licensing fees in Hamilton, and boy, was she surprised to learn the rate for an unneutured dog is $61 versus $26 for a neutured dog. This difference made Girl wonder if indeed it is time for Ribsy to be, well, nipped at the bud. There was a chance Ribsy was going to be a daddy this year, but this won't happen once he becomes a Hamilton whippet.

However, if he finds that he is longing for his blueberries, there is this company that's willing to help, for a price. Neuticles - testicular implants for dogs! Improve their self-esteem and help retain their natural look! They even have testicles for cats, horses, and bulls. No bull!

Ribsy warns

Whippet owners in the UK, watch out. There has been not one, but two whippet thefts this week. Apparently, thieves target our 'desirable' dogs in order to demand a ransom. If it is not paid, then the dog is sold into breeding or racing.

And as for that other famous missing whippet Vivi? A determined search group team soldiers on.

Stiff as a Whippet

While adding a couple of new entries to the Blog Roll, Ribsy got caught up on his Cactus Blog. Besides getting up to speed on the world of succulents, he enjoys the Friday Whippet Blogging, and seeing what adventures Benjamin and his bunch of pals get up to in the Bay Area. Check out this video of Benjamin in one of their cactus shop t-shirts. It perfectly captures their frozen state of being after you put a sweater on them. They can't move! They simply can't! Want to stop a whippet from running? Put a shirt on it.

Death Toy for Cutie

Via Bailey the Whippet's blog, Ribsy sees what this lucky whippet in Calgary has been up to today. What a good job Bailey did killing that toy! Ribsy gives it a 9.8 for carnage spread, and a 9.9 for ripping beyond recognition. Whippets can't help the fact that they have powerful chops and that every squeaky furry toy looks like their squirrel nemesis.

Calling all Hamilton Whippets

So...Ribsy and his pack have plans. Big plans. They are leaving Victoria and heading to somewhere far, far away. Hamilton, Ontario, to be exact. Ribsy's sad to be leaving the fine Victoria weather, the cute little house, and all his furry friends. He's hoping that Hamilton is full of whippets, and that a Whoop Up group can somehow be started there too. He hears that Hamilton isn't quite as lovely, and that the weather can be a tad more cold and a tad more humid. Girl's a bit scared too, about leaving the West Coast for the first time. But together the pack will get through the airplane ride, and will get through the adjustment to brand new city.

Gabby and Ribsy

Gabby and her Snack Bar Mama and Comic Guy Dada came roaring up in their nifty Corolla to Ribsy's stressed-out digs this weekend. Ribsy was a bit perturbed by the presence of a razzin' four-month-old, but giddy Gabby loved the Magoo and she seemed to love Victoria too. She got to see the Cascadia Bakery, the Seiten-filled t-shirt shop, the Victoria MEC, the wool store and RE-Bar. Mmm, that rice pudding was to drool for!

Thanks for coming this weekend and for bringing over that lovely feastivus straight from Commercial Drive. And for burning free movies. And for creating a friendship montage. It was super fun, even when that Celebrity Jeopardy insanity kept interrupting Girl's Seabiscuit melodrama. Hyuk hyuk.

Charlie's an Angel

Via Bald Guy Ribsy learns of Charlie, a good-lookin' Italian Greyhound living quite a few dog parks away. And this fall he's headed off to England - which apparently is more than a few dog parks & a big puddle away.

Snoods Magoo

A few pics from the weekend's snowy Whoop Up. A few whippets braved the cold, including Blitzen (though Ribsy missed seeing him there), Mani, Bonaparte (and his tiny pal Napoleon), Cougar and two greyhounds.

Here's Ribsy getting all excited and antsy about the whoop up. He shirked his coat but snood (hand-knitted with love by Linda) held up.

Ribsy's coat is a bit off-kilter and he wishes he had boots but they would probably get lost in the snow.
