The Dog's Bolloxed

Girl came home from watching the opening night performance of Bolloxed, and promptly told Ribsy what she thought of the play. Here's his best interpretation, from his very astute DPOV (dog point of view).

- Human bollocks are significantly larger than dog bollocks
- To the best of his knowledge, scrotal support devices (in white, pink or otherwise) are not available in dog sizes
- Irish accents are hard to understand, and he wonders if he would  "come" or "stay" if an Irish person said it, especially if this said Irish person was really excited thinking about football whilst calling him
- Pay attention to your body, including your heart. It can help you run fast to catch the ball. Or the girl.
- Being in love can hurt. Getting socked in the balls by an even harder ball can hurt more.
- Downplay your American-ness. You will only be ridiculed. (Good advice, as Ribsy is half-American himself.)
- There are many ways to refer to your bollocks. Girl happens to affectionally call his "blueberries". But there's only way to fall in love these days. Through technology.
- Go ahead and ask the Internet anything. Just don't ask it to play doctor, matchmaker, or the role of a good friend.
- Laughter is contagious!
- Don't download Kylie Minogue to your iPod if you know what's good for you.
- Humans like to mount just like dogs do.
- And all in all, this play was like a good walk at the dog park. Pleasant, enjoyable, with the occasional ball throwing, a few humorous breakdowns in communication, a humping or two, unwanted tugging, and plenty of swaying objects.
- And like all good walks, Ribsy says, "Let's do it again!"

Wiping up doggy-style

Now as you may have noticed as of late, the entries have focused on a certain part of Ribsy's anatomy. But this dog-end towel holder really is the dog's bollocks! There's quite a resemblance. Should Girl post up a photo to allow you to compare side-by-side? Hmm, maybe not.

This super fun device is also available in a cat-end version, but what fun is a towel holder without testicles?

Whippet Puppies!

For all you thinking about adding to your whippet collection, or for those, such as Girl, who like to dream about it, here's something - or rather, nine things - to fill your thought clouds with sighs of utter delight.

Swiftsure Whippets in Abbotsford has just had a litter of nine fine pups - five boys and four girls. Bongo and Crystal the parents are doing very well, as are all the little squirmies. These pictures were taken at three days of age. If you're interested, check out their Web site.

So Blitzy Boy is coming over to stay with Ribsy again soon - yes so begins next installment of Hellhounds Part II.

Hopefully Girl won't be up to her bollocks in hellion behavior!

Weekly Whippet Meet-up Reminder

Ribsy has received a few requests from folks outside Victoria about the Whippet Whoop Up, so he thought he would re-cap some information for those interested in joining in on the fun.

Here's a link to the map - you'll want to park where the star is, on Cedar Hill Cross Road. There's a golf course on one side and Mystic Vale/the University of Victoria on the other. The main entrance is beside a large parking gate. The whippet gang meets up at 10am every Sunday morning.

Please note that we share the park with dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments, and while the social is fun, the hounds can get quite intense (you know, whippets whipped up into a whippet-chasing, neck-tasting, prey-foisting frenzy) so please always leash up your whippet and/or have your whippet under your control when non-whippets happen to wander in on our hound parties. Let's keep it fun for all the dogs!

Of course, don't get Ribsy wrong. Whippets aren't dangerous. Whoever thinks that is just plain bollocks. Oh, and check out these red potatoes with dill we had for dinner the other night. Very delicious.

This play could be the dog's bollocks!

Thanks to some hot doggin' this afternoon, Ribsy scored two free tickets to the opening night performance of Bolloxed, a new play by Darren Barefoot that's playing at both the Victoria and Vancouver Fringe Festivals. In return, Ribsy crossed his paws and promised to give his honest two-bit assessment.

Here's the plot in a nutshell:

"Set in Dublin, Ireland, at the height of the dot-com boom, Canadian computer programmer Jack is struck by love and a God-awful pain in his ‘bollocks’ at precisely the same moment. While he may have found the woman of his dreams, discovering the source of testicle pain is, well, more sensitive. Will a clash of cultures and the nagging feeling that things just aren’t right kill the romance for good?"

Since he for some reason is not allowed in the theatre (the nerve!) Ribsy has kindly given his seats up to his number one Girl and her friend, but has requested that these pictures be posted to remind all of who really is the dog's bollocks (and a photo of ripe figs just for fun, because they're bollocky too) --

Cute...super cute

Over in Vancouver, Sprocket and Cricket have taken to playing with their new whippet pal Snicket. According to Sprocket and Cricket's mom, there are also a couple of Italian greyhounds named Rocket and Jet that partake in the fun, and you can imagine all the name calling mixups that happen: "Snocket, no I mean Spricket, no...you there – the skinny one!"
