Boy has been working dilligently on the back and front yards ever since he got back. Ribsy and Girl are really impressed with his progress. Check out these before and after's. Of course "before" in this case means "before" Ribsy, way back in the day when they first got their tiny house and snuck into the yard to snap these pics, before their possession date. And before they fell in love with little Ribsy.

By the back door. June 2004 vs. June 2006. Since then, the deck & shed has been stained, a new garden area has been added with new plantings, the area beside the shed has been cleaned out, and a new cedar gate has just been built by Boy!

The front yard. The porch has been stained, the plants have certainly gotten bigger. A few new ones have been added, including a Vancouver jade and a New Zealand flax plant. The right hand side has been really cleaned up, ever since the nasty plumbing incident of 2005. The bark chips add a nice touch.

The east side of the house. Another view of the new cedar gate. Plus look at how the hollyhocks, lavender & that purple plant (not sure what the name is, but boy can it grow!) have bloomed!

The west side of the house. Boy has also built a tall privacy fence for this side, and keeps a neat stack of firewood plus his wheelbarrow there.

And the backyard! Boy's pride and joy, the bare weedy lawn is transforming into the garden he's always envisioned since he was a child. With three maple trees framing his waterless water feature he's well on his way to creating the Zen-like oasis of his dreams.

It's coming along! The next project is a fence, and then who knows. Summer hasn't even arrived yet.
It's nice to look back at see how far along you've come. Even though a day doesn't seem to make a big difference when you look back the things you've done, you can be proud.
