Ribsy's (seen here at left disguised as a reindeer) had a fun Christmas but he's happy too that it's over and that he, Girl and Boy can go back to being a cozy threesome snuggled by the fire on cold windy evenings in Victoria such as this one tonight.
His Christmas begun with the arrival of Nicholas, a two legged creature roughly his size who could outdo him when it came to pure, spastic energy. Nicholas, who's not to be confused with Saint Nick - oh no - spent much of the weekend trying to see what kind of noise Ribsy would make if his ear was pulled, if a bottle was chucked at his head, if his tail was yanked. Poor Ribsy. Never retaliating, Ribsy scurried away whenever he heard the manic toddler stomping towards him.
Ribsy also spent much of Christmas Eve in bed with Boy and Girl, who were in great pains due to a nasty case of food poisoning from a well-known Chinese restaurant in town. It's funny how dogs are such a source of comfort during sickness and sadness. They just know when their people need quiet support. Ribsy stayed with them the entire day and the entire night as they suffered to get the horrors out of their systems. Needless to say, Boy and Girl won't be going back for some more Gold Coin beef anytime this decade.
By Christmas morning Boy and Girl were able to muster enough energy to open presents and nibble food - including a gigantic cinnamon bun - at Linda's house. Note the size of the bun in reference to the hand.
And naturally, after opening his presents which included a puppy book, tricycle and dump truck, Nicholas took the greatest liking to an empty gift box filled with styrofoam bits. He romped and squealed with delight while in his impromptu fluff ball pit.
The next day Ribsy and gang were off to the mainland for some visits with friends and family. Impeccably groomed and well-mannered, Ribsy was a hit with all that he visited. The only time he truly let his "Magoolian" side out was during a well-deserved playdate break with Sprocket, a young, handsome Vancouver whippet who was absolutely excited to have another chesty pooch to play with.

Sprocket and Ribsy play-pawed on the couch, ran around the hallway and jumped on and off side tables and armchairs. Fur was flying everywhere.

They needed a bigger playing surface - so off they went to the park where they ran like whippets do. There's nothing better than watching a whippet in action than watching two whippets fly like the wind. Ribsy in particular looked like he came down with the measles from all the mud in the field.
Ribsy returned to Victoria the next day, and needed a good swaddle to cope with the 6am cold van kind of feeling as they putted down to the ferry terminal.
The Christmas holiday in a nutshell? A blur. An absolute blur.
Ribsy hopes everyone had a safe, warm and happy holiday.
