Ribsy spent his Saturday evening alone, as Girl went to see the new Bridget Jones movie. He was all tuckered out from the day's activities, which started off with a romp at the UVic dog park with Bailey, Lucy, Roxy and all the rest of the gang. His striped turtleneck sweater did not stop him from being crowned the Park Flirt. Teasing all the dogs with a wag, a crouch, a wink or slink, he'd dash off, running off in a mad frenzy to prove that he was the fastest pooch in the west. It was a sight to see, that is, if it didn't make you all rapidly dizzy first.
Then it was off to hang out at the new Starbucks at Cardboro Bay. Over on the Island, there is indeed still room for more Starbucks locations as they haven't quite cornered every corner - or in some instances in the Lower Mainland - two corners of every intersection. Ribsy and Bailey liked it because lots of people petted their heads. Plus they had a posh doggie water bowl outside, which always earns bonus slobbers from the canine crowd.
Then Linda dropped Girl off at that white moving thing. But what's this? Why aren't we getting in that thing? Why aren't we going home? Why are you swearing at yourself? Why are you frantically taking me for a run down the hill and towards where we came from? Why are we stopping at this lovely pet store so that you can frantically make a phone call? Oh, too many questions! There's friendly pet store people giving me treats! Ribsy could get used to this rather unexplicable action.
And this big jolly man with a white beard and red suit is propping up all these other dogs on his lap, and this other man is snapping their photos.
And this Western Canada manager for Eagle Pack pet foods is showing Ribsy with cans of food and yummy biscuits. This really is getting good.
So, Girl and Ribsy waited for Linda to rescue them from Chez Terry's, with Girl's car key that she left inside of Linda's car. Oops.
After being saved, Girl and Ribsy met a lady who taught them a few dog training tips (the same ones that worked on the Littlest Hobo). It was lovely to see Ribsy respond positively to the positive methods.
After a brief nap, dinner was had and a lovely romp spent chasing the soccer ball in the back yard.
Yes, weekends are great. And it's not even over. Dog Park, round II is tomorrow morning.
